The Herald is recommending Diaz’s re-election on the basis of his outstanding service to the residents of District 103 during his first two terms.
Today, the Manny Diaz Campaign announced the endorsement of the Miami Herald. Diaz, a Republican, is seeking re-election to the District 103 seat in the Florida House of Representatives. He was first elected in 2012 and faces Democrat Ivette Petkovich in the November 8 election.
“We back Mr. Diaz on the basis of his two terms in the Legislature and a record of helping Hialeah and other communities in his district get state funding for needed projects, like flood drainage in Miami Lakes,” said the Herald’s endorsement.
With his professional background in education, Diaz has been a leader in the Florida House on a variety of education issues. Currently, he chairs the Choice and Innovation Subcommittee, serves on the Education Appropriations Subcommittee, and is Vice Chair of the Health Innovation Subcommittee.
“It has been an honor to serve the residents of District 103, and it’s great to have the Miami Herald’s recognition of the work we’ve done in Tallahassee,” said Diaz. “I plan to keep on working very hard in the remaining two weeks of this campaign, and I look forward to continuing the fight in Tallahassee to give Florida students the very best education possible.”
